Darla Jean Dittmar Smith 

Services for Darla Smith will be held Thursday, September 9th at 1 pm at Faith Baptist Church, 123 Faith Church Rd., Swansea,SC.

 Darla went home to be with her momma and daddy in the arms of the Lord on Sept 3, 2021. Darla was born in Salem, MO to the late Robert and Doris Dittmar. She is survived by her daughter Samantha (Quinn) and their children Camron, Jaden, Riley, Rhyen, and Koriof Pelion, SC, son Robbie (Samantha) and their children Adrian, and Daedric , of Seamen, OH, and son Stephen Alex of Oklahoma City, OK.  Her brothers are Bill (Ruthie) of Buffalo, MO, Richard (Susan) of Aiken, SC, and Stephen (Sue) of Swansea, SC, one sister Ruth Slice of Swansea, SC. Her nieces and nephews are Mickie, Billy, Jeffery, Risa, Bobby, Carlie, Richie, Walter, Stevie, Tyler. She was predeceased by brother Jeffery Dittmar.

 Darla received her bachelors degree at Southwest Baptist College (now SWBU) in Bolivar, MO. She began her career as a social worker for the state of SC. She later received her masters degree and began the career she loved teaching children with disabilities. She developed “Jeremy’s League”, a softball league for special needs students at Calhoun County High School. She also invited and assisted other area schools to participate. Darla gathered sponsorships for the teams from area corporations and businesses. 

 All those attending service please bring your favorite “Darla” story.

Condolences to my daughter in law and the family. I’m sorry for your loss. She was always a sweet and nice lady everytime I had the pleasure of talking to her. God Bless you all.

Always looked for u. I will never forget the fun and crazy things we did. U and the whole family were such a great part my life. Will never forget u and will always love u. RIP until we meet again.
