Wayne Tallon Obituary

Wayne Franklin Tallon, 78,  of West Columbia, SC, was the son of the late William F. Tallon, Jr. and Willie Sue Barber Tallon.  He was born on August 6, 1943 in Calhoun County, SC.  He passed away on January 13, 2022 at Lexington Medical Center from a brief illness.  Wayne graduated from St. Matthews High School in 1961.  He then graduated from Syracuse University and received a Master’s Degree in Counseling from the University of South Carolina.  He was a Veteran of the United States Air Force and a member of the South Carolina Army National Guard.  He retired from the Veterans Administration.

 

He enjoyed fishing with his son and playing golf.  He was an avid Gamecock football fan, loved college football, and old westerns.  He also could speak fluent Russian.  He was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in West Columbia.

 

He is predeceased by his parents.  Survivors include his son, William Tallon (Erika) of West Columbia; granddaughter Hailey Marie; stepsons: Jerome and Mark Smith; sisters: Mrs. Billie Gene Slawson (David) of Manning and Mrs. Susan Stroman (George) of Elloree; nieces: Jeannie Keller (Rob) of Hanahan, Michelle Hood (Troy) of St. Matthews, and Jillian James (Harry) of Bolivia, NC; and five great nephews.

 

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorials be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, 1201 Mohawk Drive, West Columbia, SC 29169.
