Walter Wesley Nelson (1940-2022)
A Homecoming service celebrating Wesley Nelson will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, August 12, 2022 in the Chapel of Celestial Memorial Gardens in West Columbia.
Wesley passed on Wednesday, August 3, 2022. Born February 8, 1940, to the late Berger Walter Nelson and Roxie Smith Stegal.
Wesley was very proud of his early beginnings at John Dela Howe and the many friends he made and still had. He will be remembered for his gift of gab. He loved talking to anyone, especially finding out where they were from originally. He will be remembered for his fishing trips to Cherokee with his sons and brothers. He loved music and Elvis. He loved dancing at the Skyline. He was a die-hard Clemson fan, but a fan of football, baseball and racing. He loved his family reunions and his McCormick (1959) High School Reunions. He loved the beach, especially at sunrise for his morning walk and Alabama Theater. He was a long-distance truck driver for Overnite Transportation retiring after 32 years and one million miles in 2002. But, most of all he loved his family.
