Timothy R. Butner

Timothy R. Butner of Gaston passed away September 21, 2023 at his home. Surviving are his siblings, Brenda (Jerry) McLain of West Columbia, Janet Butner Stokes of Lexington.  Nieces and nephews, Trey (Kim) Plowden of Cayce and Jennifer (Steven) Boatwright of West Columbia; great nieces and nephews, Spencer (Danielle), Emma Plowden and Olivia and John Boatwright.  He was preceded in death by his great nephew, Grayson Plowden. 

Tim was born in Columbia, SC and was the son of the late, Thelbert and Julia Kiser Butner. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed his annual trips to Nebraska to hunt with a group of friends. Tim loved boating on Lake Murray and fishing in the Santee and Wateree river.. He was an active participant in high school track and field and worked in the steel business for fourty years. Tim was a Master Mason and Shriner. In his later years he enjoyed riding his Harley and loved his hunting companion  “Rocky”. 

A service to celebrate his life will be held at Moseley Funeral & Cremation Service, 914 Meeting Street, West Columbia on Friday September 29th, 2023 at 11:30 am. The  Family will greet friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home at 10:30 am.  Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Columbia at 1:00pm. In lieu of flowers, Shandon United Methodist Church, 3407 Devine Street, Columbia SC 29205.
