Shirley Shealy Gilmore Obituary

Shirley Shealy Gilmore, 88, of West Columbia, SC passed away peacefully in her home on Sunday, February 11, 2024.
Shirley was born on November 3, 1935 in Columbia, South Carolina to Daniel Sease Shealy and Eunice Holley Shealy. Shirley attended Dreher High School and was a part of the 1955 graduating class. Shirley was a longtime employee of Giant Cement where she eventually retired.
Shirley was preceded in death by her son, Steven Andrew Gilmore, brother Ray Hammond Shealy, and sister Betty Carol Liverman.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband of 59 years John L. Gilmore, grandson Hunter Huggins (Delaney), granddaughter Amanda Lanford (Martin), granddaughter Anna Gilmore, great-grandson Jaxon Lanford, and close friends Cathy Huggins, Don and Frances Ackerman, and Sue Smoak.
Shirley was a loving wife who took great pride in caring for her husband John. She was also very passionate about taking care of and loving her grandchildren who she held very close to her heart. Shirley enjoyed shopping around town, sitting on her porch and talking with her neighborhood friends and family. Shirley also enjoyed watching sports and attending all of her grandson Hunter’s baseball games. She was a very loyal Atlanta Braves and Clemson Tiger fan.
The family will be holding a private celebration of life and appreciates everyone's thoughts and prayers.
