Ronald “Ronnie” Kelly Obituary

Ronald (Ronnie) Adrian Kelly

June 29, 1942 – June 28, 2022

Pelion, SC

Ronnie left this world behind one day shy of his 80th birthday – The family has decided to give him that day – so 80 it is. He was born in Spartanburg, SC to the late Silas W. and Jessie Atkinson Kelly. He was the 3rd born of five. Ronnie grew up in Columbia, SC attending Columbia High School. He became a man of many trades and talents. He was always a top-notch diesel mechanic and spent many years driving the big rigs across the country when he wasn’t working on them. He spent several years in Louisiana where he worked out in the gulf on the big oil rigs. In between all that he worked on pipe lines, fence companies, running moonshine back in the day along with several other activities we won’t mention.

Ronnie loved motorcycles and made a hobby of buying and selling them along with trucks and anything else that was of interest to him. Ronnie was a survivalist as he survived many motorcycle crashes while riding or racing along with a boat and a plane crash. Nothing slowed him down.

Ronnie always had a story to tell of his many adventures throughout his life. He was a loner but had many friends. He would give you the shirt off his back without question. He lived his final years in Pelion where he loved being out in the country. He will be sorely missed.

Ronnie leaves behind his son Claude Silas Kelly (Lisa) of West Columbia, special son-in-law Joe Spires of Pelion. Grandchildren Joey Spires, Dylan Kelly, Amy Taylor, and Shawn Myers along with bonus grandchildren Justin Moore and others and great grandchildren. He also leaves his sisters, Roxanne Cromwell of Orange Park, FL and Myrtle deWerdt of Columbia.

Ronnie is predeceased by his wife Virginia Holiday Kelly. Children, Lorraine Taylor, Ronald A, Kelly, Jr, and Kimberly Kelly Spires along with Brothers Rhett I. Kelly and Raymond A. Kelly.

The family will gather privately to celebrate his life and repeat his many stories of adventure.
