Rita H. Golson was born on September 13, in Brooklyn, New York to the late Carnel and Magnolia Heyward. She departed this life on October 10, 2023, at Lexington Medical Center, West Columbia, South Carolina.
Rita matriculated through the school system of the New York City Board of Education. Upon graduation, she married Leon H. Holland, who preceded her in death. The union of Rita and Leon created two children, Leon S. Holland, and Hannah H. Holland, who are left to treasure fond memories of their beloved mother.
Rita studied Computer Science and forged a career 30-year career, which included her work at Fiduciary Trust International. After an early retirement, Rita moved to Gaston, South Carolina with the love of her life, Michael Golson, who also preceded her in death.
Rita enjoyed cooking, baking, and crocheting. She won several Blue Ribbons for her magnificent baked goods and incredible crocheted crafts. She loved to share her gifts with everyone. We would be hard pressed to find anyone in this room who hasn’t sampled some of her delicious food and treats.
Rita leaves to cherish her memories, her sister, Mary “Micki” Dilligard, her son Leon S. Holland, daughter Hannah H. Holland, granddaughters Crystal Reed-Simpson (Mark Simpson), Madison S. Orta, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
