With heavy hearts, we announce the death of Othella Lee Abel, 73, of Lexington, South Carolina who passed away on Dec. 7th at home after a courageous battle with brain cancer. Othella was born in Vanceburg, Kentucky to Thelma I. Hardymon, whom proceeded her in death.
She is survived by the love of her life for the last 50 years, Val Joe Abel. Othella is also survived by her children, Valerie (Jim) Sinsel of Holly, Michigan and Kevin (Angela) Abel of Mobile, Alabama: granddaughters Sophia, Camille, and Stella Abel. Sister Rhonda Richardson and brother Harold Hardymon. Brother n Law John Abel and Sister n Laws Lynn Allen and Pam Baker as well as many nieces and nephews.
Othella was a graduate of Bucyrus High School. She worked part time at Conley’s and Uhlman’S Department Store while her kids were in school. After 10 years at Artic Cat, she retired in 2010. She also volunteered her time with many of her children’s activities including Bucyrus Band Parents and Bucyrus Little League, which she was treasurer for 3 years.
Othella enjoyed spending time with her family, long car rideswith Joe, Hallmark movies and Ohio State Athletics. She will be remembered for her kindness, love and compassion she showed to everyone who crossed her path.
There will be a memorial in Bucyrus at a later date.
