With great sadness the family of Jon Dwight Roché announce his passing September 12, 2022, at the age of 70. He passed away peacefully with loved ones at his side. His strength, clever wit, and sly humor were present to the end.
Jon was born to Virgil Joseph Roché and Wanda Ella (Sherrod) Roché of Greenville, PA on December 27, 1951. He was a 1970 graduate of Randolph East Mead HS and promptly volunteered to serve in the United States Army Air Cavalry. A self-described long-haired hippie, Jon served with honor in dangerous times with a free spirit and jester's smirk. He returned to marry his HS sweetheart and love of his life, Cathy (Conaway) Roché on March 18th, 1972. They resided in Fort Riley, Kansas; Meadville, PA; Townville, PA, and lastly Lexington, SC. He was a maintenance crew chief/door gunner on his beloved Bell UH-1 "Huey" helicopter. He was an arborist with Asplundh, a mechanic/machinist, a medical equipment manager aka as "Dr. Jon," a salesman, ran a bait and tackle shop, and could fix nearly anything. Above all, he loved his wife, three children, and seven grandchildren. Jon had a sincere personal faith and a great naturalist intelligence. He was a bit of a philosopher known to consider life's mysteries and often responded "no stress, no strain." He loved escaping to the forest and finding hidden fishing holes.
He is predeceased by his father Virgil, and recently by his wife Cathy. He is survived by his children Brandie (Jeff) Bernagozzi, Justin (Jennifer) Roché, Cory (Valerie) Roché; grandchildren Briana, Bella, JonRussell, Jack, Jude, Micah, and Julianne; mother: Wanda Roché; sisters: Jeannine (Randy) Boehm, Winona (William) Bieganski, brothers: Bryan (Linda) Roché, Colin (Lorraine) Roché, and Andre Roché; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and loving friends.
