John T. “JT” Burton, Jr.

John T. “JT” Burton, Jr., 78, of Leesville, SC passed from earthly life to eternal life and now resides in the presence of the Lord on Sunday January 9, 2022 at his home. He was born in Orangeburg, SC and was the son of the late Frankie and Johnny Burton.  JT was a lifelong resident of Leesville and was a graduate of Batesburg-Leesville High School and University of South Carolina. He had a quick wit and often told friends JT meant Just Terrific! JT worked in the building industry for most of his life. He was a veteran of the US Air Force where he reached the rank of Captain. JT was a member of Oakwood Baptist Church of Lexington. He loved his family and was a strong Christian, loved the Lord with all his heart and served him all his life. 

JT is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Sara Weathers Burton; children, John T. (Linda) Burton, III, Jason (Meredith) Burton and Bethany (Alex) Tandon; six grandchildren, Morgan, Daniel, Helena, Parker, Joshua and Caleb; brother, James H. Burton. 

A service to celebrate his life will be held at 11:00 am Thursday January 13, 2022 at Christ Community Church, 144 E. Columbia Ave., Leesville, SC 29070. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and also following the service at the church. Please make memorial donations to Boys Farm, Inc., P.O. Box 713, Newberry, SC 29108.
