George Martin Langston, beloved husband, father, friend, and faithful servant of our Lord, joined his heavenly host and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Saturday morning, November 6, 2021, after a long battle with Parkinson's. He will be greatly missed and forever held in our hearts, as the spiritual foundation and loving leader of our family. Martin was born on January 1, 1943 in Florence, SC, and was the eldest son of Leroy Bunard Langston of Timmonsville, SC, and Nancy Caro Lee Langston of Olanta, SC. He grew up at the Langston home on Evergreen Avenue in West Columbia, SC, and was a paper boy and charter member of Holland Avenue Baptist Church. He attended Brookland-Cayce High School and the University of South Carolina, earning a degree in pharmacy. After college, he served in the US Army Reserves, and, later, after marrying his wife, Karin, became a homebuilder in the Columbia area. As owner of Martin Langston Construction, he helped start the first annual Parade of Homes. His hobbies and interests were Carolina football, writing letters, full of wisdom to share, playing piano, tennis, and building things. Martin and Karin enjoyed traveling, and his favorite trips were visiting the Holy Land and his wife's native Germany. He is survived by his brothers, Lee and John Langston, his loving wife of 46 years, Karin Langston, their daughters Chambre Nelssen, Gina Brewer, and Debbie Chary, their son, Jerome Pelfrey, 9 grandchildren, and 2 great grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his loving parents and youngest brother David Wattie Langston. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service and his memorial service will be held at 2 pm, November 20th, at Holland Avenue Baptist Church. In lieu of flowers, donations will be graciously received at Holland Avenue Baptist Church.
