Edward Kowalczyk

Edward Kowalczyk, 77, of Gilbert, SC passed away March 5, 2023.

He was born September 4, 1945 in Chicago.  

He was a Marine Corps veteran of the Vietnam war from 1965-1966 where he was injured and awarded two Purple Hearts.

He went on to work for the Disabled American Veterans as the Chief of Claims and retired after 30 years. He spent the rest of his life as an advocate for America’s veterans and their families.  

He loved spending time with his family and friends and always enjoyed keeping everyone laughing and smiling.  He was an avid fisherman for all of his life and joined the Bass masters where he enjoyed running tournaments, and teaching kids and veterans all about fishing.   He spent the rest of his days enjoying the lake he lived on with his wife and great neighbors.  He will be greatly missed.

Ed is survived by his wife of 50 years Rita Kowalczyk; his sons Kevin (Noel) Kowalczyk and Eddie (Kalina) Kowal; his daughter Sarah (Kyle) Greer; his grandchildren Seth Kowalczyk, Gage Kowalczyk, Christina Kowal, Kailey Greer, and Alana Kowal; his siblings Ronnie Kowle, Kathy (Nick) Provenzano, and Linda (Dan) Kowalczyk Oliastro.  He was proceeded in death by his brother in law Nick Provenzano.
