Deane Louise Greene

Deane Louise Greene was born December 18, 1967, in Carlsbad, New Mexico to John Driver Tracy and Deanna (Walker) Tracy.

Deane Louise graduated from Ashland High School, Ashland MA followed by graduation from Hood College, Frederick MD with a double degree in English and History. She married Navy Lt. David Allen Michael in 1990 and they had a beautiful son Matthew Ryan Michael. 

Her many interests included gardening as a Certified Master Gardener and volunteering at the Columbia Zoo to teach children about plants and their care, reading with the Spine Crackers book club at the Pelion Library, and history where she loved working in the Confederate Relic Room at the South Carolina State Museum.

She embodied positive energy with her infectious smile. Deane was a force to be reckoned with, always at the forefront of planning and organizing events for causes she was passionate about. Her attitude and natural charisma meant she was well-loved and able to make friends far and wide.

Deane Louise is preceded in death by her husband David Allen Michael. She is survived by her son Matthew and her mother and stepfather, Deanna and Ken Mortara of St. Augustine, Florida.

Visiting Hours will be held on Saturday, November 26 from 3:00 – 5:00 and 7:00 - 9:00 at Moseley Funeral Home, 914 Meeting Street, West Columbia, SC. Cremation has taken place.

A celebration of life service will be held at 4:30 on Sunday, November 27, 2022, at DownTown Church, 2030 Gregg Street, Columbia, SC. To watch the livestream enter: https://vimeo.com/772091971
