Charles (Charlie) Pruitt was born on May 15, 1958, in Columbia, South Carolina. He passed peacefully on June 29, 2022, at 64 years old. Charles was a beloved son, brother, father, grandfather (Pops), great-grandfather and friend. Charles was a graduate of Dreher High School and self-employed. He played football at Dreher and many years of softball after high school. His love for sports helped him develop many life-long friendships. Charles loved his Carolina Gamecocks, Green Bay Packers, and Baltimore Orioles. He enjoyed coaching youth baseball with Cayce West Columbia (CWC) and Midlands Dixie Youth for many years. You can find his Hall of Fame picture wall hanging in Zesto’s of Cayce.
Charles loved his girlfriend, children, grandchildren, and great-granddaughter more than life itself. He also loved all animals, but mostly, his dogs Sadie and X.
Surviving him is his 3 children: Kelly Pruitt Busenlehner (Matthew), Phillip Edward Pruitt, and Jamie Lynn Porter (Ryan) and his girlfriend of many years Karen Fleming Allen. He is also survived by his 6 grandchildren Abigail Nichole Anderson (Drake Schwarz), Logan Charles Busenlehner, Grayson Ellen Porter, Kennedy Paige Busenlehner, Ava Sue-Ann Porter, and Kyley Noel Pruitt; as well as his great granddaughter, Blakely Rose Schwarz and his siblings; sister, Mary Caywood and brother Roy Ronald Pruitt. He was predeceased by his father Roy Pete Pruitt, mother Joan Winters Pruitt, siblings: Royce Ann Pruitt, Nancy Pruitt, Michael Edward Pruitt, and Roy Michael Pruitt.
Charles never met a stranger and was always the life of the party. He was so loved and will be greatly missed by his family and friends.
Visitations will be held at Moseley Funeral Home, 914 Meeting Street, West Columbia on Friday, July 15, 2022, from 5-7pm.
