Today, I have to say goodbye to my beloved, brilliant and devoted husband of thirty one years. Heaven is much brighter but my world and the earth is quite dim. Bill gave me a true love story. Every time I reached for his hand it was always there. He added a lot to this empty world of mine.
Bill was the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ray O. Walker of Augusta, Georgia. He graduated from Augusta College with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry and Georgia Institute of Technology with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemical Engineering. His career as a chemical engineer started with polymer pilot plant development at the Dartco facility in Augusta, GA and included working for Du Pont and Westinghouse at Savannah River Site, operations at Nuclear Fuel Services in Erwin, TN, and operations and maintenance with the Westinghouse Electric Company nuclear fuel facility in Columbia, SC. He retired from both SRS and Westinghouse Electric.
Bill is survived by his wife, Cindy of Columbia, his brother Ray Walker (Debbie), a niece, Lisa Walker of Augusta, Georgia, a nephew Daniel Walker (Rachel), a great nephew Vincent Walker, and a great niece Scarlet Walker of Jacksonville, Florida.
Bill was welcomed into the arms of his Lord and Savior on March 26, 2024. He fought the good fight and has finished his race. Rest in Peace. I will always love you and will see you again. Thank you for thirty one wonderful years.
Visitation will be at Mosley Funeral Home in West Columbia on Friday, March 29, 2024 from 1:00 P.M. – 2:00 P.M. followed immediately by a graveside service at Celestial Memorial Gardens in West Columbia.
