Mrs. Amelia Ann Tindal Byrd, 84, of West Columbia, wife of Richard H. Byrd, finished her course in faith on Friday, July 7th, 2023.
Mrs. Byrd was born in Jasper County, South Carolina on March 31, 1939, daughter of the late Hagood Archie “H.A” Tindal and Pearl Freeman Tindal. Ann was the owner of a successful retail store, The Promenade Shop, in West Columbia for many years. She was a faithful member of Cayce United Methodist Church and enjoyed singing in the choir and attending Women’s Circle functions. She enjoyed spending time at the lake with her family, traveling and playing bridge with the ladies from her bridge club. Ann will be remembered as a loving mother, wife and grandmother that loved to laugh, joke and enjoy her family.
She leaves behind her three kids, Sherry Byrd Nodine and her husband Craig of West Columbia, Richie Byrd and his wife Natalie of Leesville, SC, Pam Dixon of Kannapolis, NC; 5 grandchildren: Amber Nodine of West Columbia, Sullivan Byrd and his wife TaiAnn of Greenville, SC, Harrison Byrd of Greenville, SC, Elizabeth Byrd of Columbia, SC and Noah Dixon of Kannapolis, NC: one great granddaughter, Townes Neely Byrd of Greenville, SC; sister: Grace Matheny of Elgin, SC and host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Richard H. Byrd and her brothers William Lee “Bill” Tindal and Ritter Tindal.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, July 13th, at 3:00 PM at Cayce United Methodist Church. The family will receive family and friends in the fellowship hall following the service.
