William D. Wall

May 29, 1945 — July 30, 2023

West Columbia

Our beloved William Dobbert Wall entered this life May 29, 1945 and was taken home to be with the Lord July 30, 2023, born to Harland and Virginia Wall in New London, Wisconsin. He grew up, loving to watch football, and playing baseball. He married his sweetheart, Rosie, and they enjoyed 55 years of marriage since 1968, she claims to this day he is her everything. They were blessed with three children, Matthew, Melinda “Mikki”, and Sherri. Bill worked hard for many years and traveled with his family from base to base in Europe and the states. He was proud to have served his country, enjoyed coaching his son and grandsons in baseball, was known for his love of games “cribbage” and of course watching his beloved Green Bay Packers. He will be missed every fall when football season starts. Bill retired in 2001 and spent the rest of his days enjoying time with his Rosie, golfing, grilling, and cherishing his grand children.

Bills body endured 26 years of Parkinson’s disease, and he taught life lessons of persistence, resilience, grace, and fortitude through it all. Even as his body failed, his mind and his heart stayed strong, not giving up until the last moment.

His love of Jesus and fierce fire for the gospel permeated every aspect of his life. In later years, he was an active member of Hope Lutheran Church in Irmo SC, helping the church to grow. Bill was preceded in death by his parents, Harland and Virginia Wall, and was survived by his wife Rose; four siblings: Bob (Candi), Danny, Charlie (Barb), and Kathy; Three Children: Matthew (Johanna), Mikki (Tracy), and Sherri (Rick); Thirteen Grandchildren: Shane, Chad, Amber (Thomas), Austin, Taylor, Trista; Dawson, Dylan, Dallas, Matthew, and Emily; Nicole and Krista. One, Great Grandchild: Emma, and was thrilled to have another on the way.

Blessed are those who die in the name of the Lord, though my flesh and my heart may fail, God is my strength and my portion forever well done good and faithful servant you have finished the race.

The family would like to thank nurses and staff at Three Oaks Hospice for their spiritual and compassionate care.

Donations can be made in memory of Bill to Hope Lutheran Church, Irmo SC building fund.
