Requiem Mass will be celebrated for the Repose of the Soul of William Schell Reamer IV on Wednesday, October 20 at 10:30 am at the Church of the Good Shepherd (Episcopal), 1512 Blanding Street, Columbia. Bill died at age 63 after a long battle with cancer on Saturday, October 16, 2021. He will be missed by all that knew him and loved him for his kindness and generosity.
He graduated from W.J. Keenan High School in 1976 and later received the degree of Bachelor of Arts from the University South Carolina, Columbia, SC. After graduation he began his career as an independent business owner in accounting and bookkeeping. As business grew, he pursued additional education to become a Certified Public Accountant with the South Carolina Board of Accountancy. He then worked as a sole practitioner under the business name of WS Reamer, CPA. Bill opted to not join any joint business ventures because he said: “if the weather was right, and the waves were up; he wanted to hit the beach and ride those waves”. His goal was to help all those who needed his services, regardless of their ability to pay. His Christian faith served as the cornerstone of his integrity and personal reputation.
Bill is survived by Sandy, his devoted wife of 33 years. They shared many interests and happy adventures. Together they shared a love of nature and sports, which included white water rafting, canoeing, sailing, swimming and golf. He lived life to the fullest, for as long as he could, and remained actively involved with his family and church.
He is also survived by two children, John and Michelle; grandchildren - Johnny, Megan, Elizabeth, Anna, Cassie Mae, Katie Jo; great grandchildren - Natalie Kate, Tanner, William, Layla, Spencer; his mother, Nancy M. Reamer; and three siblings, John, Joe and Nancy.
Bill loved serving others through the life of his parish community. At the Church of the Good Shepherd he served in the following capacities: Vestryman, Lay Reader, Eucharistic Visitor, Stewardship Chairman and as a participant in numerous outreach projects.
