Teilah Charmaine Shirley passed away suddenly at her home on November 16, 2023. She was the daughter of the late Tommy and Marion Shirley Jones and the granddaughter of the late Jim and Lois Shirley. Teilah grew up in the Cayce area and attended Lexington District 2 schools. After graduation from Brookland Cayce High School, she attended Baptist College where she graduated with a degree in communications and music education. While at Baptist College she traveled extensively as a soloist with Baptist College concert choir. She also sang with a trio performing at churches throughout the state. Teilah felt called to spread the gospel using the exceptional vocal talent that the Lord had given her. She also had great technical and communication skills which she used with her work in the travel industry. In addition to her professional work, Teilah spent many years as a fulltime caretaker of her mother, who suffered with major health conditions. Their devotion to one another knew no bounds. Teilah is survived by her cousins, Dell Price, Bonnie Bering of Houston, TX, Patsy (Rusty) Stegall, Hank (Susan) Shirley, Charles (Ellen) Melton, and Gerald (Mary) Melton. Special recognition to Julie and Jett Jernigan, the Jones family, long time friend James Taylor, and other cherished family members. A memorial service will be held 2:00 p.m. Thursday, December 7, 2023 at State Street Baptist Church. Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church. Memorials can be made to the State Street Baptist Church building fund.
