Stephen Wayne Atchley

Stephen Wayne Atchley passed away August 26 ^th in Columbia. Steve was born in Newport, Arkansas to George and Pearl Rash on June 9, 1950. From a young age, Steve had been a hard worker: collecting golf balls for change, delivering milk and newspapers, and picking cotton before moving to Detroit to work as a short order cook and tow truck driver. Steve joined the US Army at 18 years of age and during his 20-year military career met his wife and had two children. After retirement, Steve enjoyed deep sea fishing and traveling with his family. Steve was a member of Trinity Church for more than 20 years and served as an usher, Royal Ranger commander, Nehemiah Team member, Home Group Pastor and mentor. He is loved and will be missed by many.

Steve was pre-ceded in death by George Rash and two of his brothers, HD and Tad.

Steve is survived by his 93-year-old mother, Pearl and siblings: HT, Mary Alice (Howie), Billy, Betty Sue, Skeeter (Donna), Mike (Traynee); his wife of 50 years, Doris, their son, Jeremy (Amber) and their daughter, Jennifer (Ryan); grandchildren: Mark, Morganne (Hamilton), Jessica (Brandon), and Eli; and great-granddaughter, Charlee Jane.

Memorial service will be held August 29 ^th , Sunday beginning at 2:30 for visitation and service starting at 3:00 pm at Trinity Church – 1501 Hallbrook Drive, Columbia, SC 29209 . The service will be live streamed from the church website East Campus - trinitycolumbia.com

In memory of Steve, the family requests donations be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Trinity Church Building Fund in lieu of flowers.
