Stanley Bruce Lowell

July 7, 1949 — February 20, 2024

Stanley Bruce Lowell, 74, of West Columbia, SC, died at his home of natural causes on February 20th, 2024. After a rough year medically, we celebrate his ultimate freedom to ride into the great beyond.

Stan was born in Biddeford, Maine on July 7th, 1949 to Norman and Dorothy Hatt Lowell. After graduating from Biddeford High School, Stan served in the Navy in the late 1960s. After his discharge, Stan became a jack of all trades but was most known for restoring and selling motorcycles, cars, and motorcycle parts. And, of course, his prized Harley-themed Corvette.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents Norman and Dorothy, his sister who died as a baby, his sister Sharolyn Lowell Gagnon, and his grandson, Andrew Pierce Wells. He leaves behind his daughter, Deborah Besinger, and her children, Gaige, Bliss, and True Wells all of Raleigh, NC. He leaves his son, Benjamin Lowell, and his wife, Kim, along with their sons, Liam Lowell and Nicholas Senasy of Cumberland, Maine. He also leaves behind his nephew, Tim Westleigh, and other extended relatives in Southern Maine.

Stan was passionate about a few things in his life; storytelling, helping people through recovery, and restoring motorcycles and cars. After wading through his recovery journey 40-plus years ago, he dedicated the remainder of his life to sponsoring and helping countless others on their journey. He leaves behind a host of decades-long friends from both recovery and the biker world. Anyone who knew Stan knew you'd get a random phone call from him if he had your phone number and he could talk your ear off. He was a colorful storyteller and liked a captive audience.

His daughter invites friends to an intimate memorial gathering to come and swap "Stan stories" on Saturday, March 2nd, 2024 at noon at Murray's Bar and Grille at 2433 Charleston Hwy, Cayce, SC.

Stan will be buried in Southern Maine Memorial Veterans Cemetery in Springvale, Maine. He will receive Military honors at the burial and ceremony details will be announced once they are confirmed.

Any donations in his honor towards his final expenses would be greatly appreciated. Please contact his daughter for more information.
