A much loved son, father, grandfather, uncle and friend, Stanford Douglas Towery, passed away on May 5, 2026 at his home in North Myrtle Beach with his beloved mother present. He was born on August 27, 1961 in Rock Hill, SC to Ralph Douglas Towery and Priscilla Mathis Towery. He resided in Lexington, SC and North Myrtle Beach, SC for the majority of his life. He graduated from Brookland Cayce High School in 1979, before going on to work as a general manager for Quincy’s and later as a Sales Manager at Thomas & Howard.
Stan enjoyed South Carolina Gamecock sports and was known to frequent home football games while living in Lexington. He enjoyed playing basketball and golf with his family and friends and also loved a good game of rummy with his son and grandson. In addition to sports as a hobby, Stan was also a grill master. He enjoyed cooking and providing his loved ones with masterfully grilled steaks, chicken and many other home cooked meals.
Stan is survived by his mother, Priscilla Mathis Towery of North Myrtle Beach; his son, Justin Douglas Towery and his wife, Ashley Ann Towery of Lexington; his granddaughter, Sydney Marie Towery; his grandson, Samuel Douglas Towery; his nephew, Christopher Towery and his wife Michelle Towery, of New Haven; his niece, Emily Towery; his great-nephew, Bryson Towery and his great-niece, Olivia Towery.
A memorial service will be held graveside in Woodridge Memorial Park at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026. Pastor Mark Crumpton will officiate.
