Matthew 5:4 "Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted."
Shelba J. Brown, affectionately known as "Mom-Nanny" by family and friends, was born May 30, 1939, in Harriman, Tennessee. She was the beloved daughter of the late Alfred and Laura Edwards.
On Monday, June 29, 2026, Shelba transitioned to her eternal home in Heaven in the arms of Jesus. She was saved by the blood of Christ at an early age and was baptized at Fairview Baptist Church in 1983 by Pastor Jack W. Smith. She was a charter member of Charity Baptist Church in Hopkins, SC from January 1, 1987 until June 29, 2026.
Shelba was a loving person who touched the lives of all those she had contact with. You will not find a better person than she was. She was hardworking and ready to help when needed. Her thoughtfulness, kindness, unwavering support, and love will continue to inspire all of our lives. She will be greatly missed but never forgotten. And boy could she cook.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alfred and Laura Edwards, her husband, Charles Brown Sr., and three brothers, James, George, and Jr. Edwards.
She is survived by her husband, Charles Brown Sr.; her sister, Brenda Lee; daughter Teresa Smith and Michelle Brown; and son Charles Brown Jr.; one granddaughter Nikki Turner and two neices, Dee Dee McGill, and Dena Anderson, and their families.
If you missed Shelba Brown's touch on your life, you missed a great blessing on your life. If you want to join her in Heaven, you must be born again.
