Scott Odom Chandler

March 7, 1961 — April 27, 2022

Scott “Scotty” Chandler passed away peacefully after a hard battle with cancer on April 27, 2022, at the age of 61, surrounded by his family. He was born to Bennie and Patricia Chandler on March 7, 1961. Scotty grew up in the Rosewood area of Columbia. He lived in Columbia most of his life, then moved to Ridgeway to live the lake life on Lake Wateree. His neighbors soon became life-long friends, friends that rallied around him during his illness. Scotty had a knack for working with his hands, and was skilled in many trades. He was a dedicated shop foreman at Prewitt Sheetmetal Works for fourteen years, where he became a part of their family. They supported him in times of need, and he was always thankful. Scotty will be remembered by his loved ones as a kind, generous soul. He expressed his love through his actions, especially through his labor. He was always willing to lend a helping hand, whether he was assisting in a neighbor’s home improvement projects, cutting down trees, climbing on someone’s roof, or fixing things in a barn. All you had to do was call and ask. He adored his family, and his children and grandchild were his whole world. He is survived by his two children, Kimberly Clark and Christopher Chandler; his granddaughter, Britney Clark; his mother, Patricia Chandler; his siblings, Theresa (Randy) Rutledge, Michael (Lucile) Chandler, and Dianne (Bob) Smith; his mother-in-law, Jo Mims; and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. He is predeceased by his former wife, Linda Mims Rowland; his father, Bennie Chandler; and his beloved four-legged lake companion, Bobo. Family and friends are invited to pay their respects between 6pm and 8pm on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at Moseley’s Funeral Home, 914 Meeting Street, West Columbia, 29169. A celebration of life is planned for a near date, to be held at Lake Wateree. All friends and family are invited. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Cat Around Town Project. PO Box 1501 Camden, SC 29021. PayPay: PayPal.me/.cataroundtown, Venmo: @cataroundtownproject, CashApp: $cataroundtownproject
