Ruth Baker

June 9, 1957 — June 4, 2025

In Loving Memory of Ruth Baker June 9, 1957– June 4, 2025 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of the beloved wife, mother and nanny, Ruth Baker, who left this world peacefully on June 4, 2025, at the age of 67. Ruth lived a life defined by one beautiful, unwavering truth: unconditional love. She gave selflessly, always putting her family first and offering a safe, nurturing presence to those blessed to know her. Her husband, children and grandchildren were the center of her world, and her greatest joy came from the simple moments—rocking a baby to sleep, cheering from the sidelines, swimming with them, dancing to Elvis in the living room or making simple memories that will last a lifetime. She taught us, by example, the meaning of grace, patience, and compassion. Whether with a warm embrace, a listening ear, or her quiet strength, Ruth was always there—never asking for anything in return. Her legacy lives on in the hearts of her husband, Mike Baker, children, Adam Baker (Bridgette), Amanda Chavis (Joey), and Zack Baker (Melody), her cherished grandchildren, Audrey Baker(Elliott), Katelyn Lincoln(Sean), Brooke Baker(Noah), Samantha Ashley, Anna Baker, Paisley Baker, Bryce Chavis, and Elizabeth Baker, and one adored great grandchild, Amelia Price who will carry forward her values of kindness, generosity, and boundless love. She is also survived by her special aunt, Betty Ruth Fulmer, special cousin Wanda Beck, brother in law, George Rye, sister in law, Cheryl Baker, sister in law, Barbara Baker-Shugerts, numerous cousins, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her sister Sherl Fore, her sister in laws Harriett Wood, Susie Rye, and Beth Murphy, and brother in laws, Tommy Baker, Bobby Baker, Troy Wood, and Johnny Murphy. We will miss her dearly but find comfort in knowing her love surrounds us still, a guiding light that will never fade. A celebration of her life will be held graveside on Sunday, June 8 2025 at 2:00pm at Olympia Cemetery located at 721 Granby Lane, Columbia, SC 29201. Memorials can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
