Ronald Dean Hallman, Sr. (“ Ron” or “Bobby”) (91), passed away peacefully surrounded by his family, on June 30, 2025 at MUSC in Columbia, SC. Ron was born July 20, 1933 in West Columbia, SC, to parents, Haskell Lee & Stella Mae Corey Hallman. He was a graduate of Brookland Cayce High School, class of 1952, and he obtained a B.S. in Electrical Engineering at the University of South Carolina.
Ron proudly served 10 years in the Army National Guard. He later retired from Hobart Corp, where he took great pride in the many inventions he created during his career. He was a devout Christian and a devoted family man with a gentle spirit, quiet determination, and always ready with a clever joke or bit of lighthearted humor. By nature, he had a deep love for his family, family history, science, guitars, trains, and woodworking. One of his favorite pastimes was to spend Friday nights at Bill’s Pickin’ Parlor, where musicians came together to play songs, learn from one another, and enjoy their shared love of music. Ron was married to his sweetheart, Gladis Amaker Hallman for 67 years, and together they built a beautiful life and loving family, which he cherished above all else. Three children; Rhonda (Mike), Sharon (Tim), and Dean (Stacey). Six grandchildren; Christy (Rodney), Corey (Ashley), Justin, Ashlyn, Matthew, Mackenzie, and three great grandchildren; Rebecca, Emily and Ryleigh. Ron is survived by his brother, Alton Hallman. He was preceded in death by his parents, Stella Mae Corey and Haskell Lee Hallman, as well as sister Lynda Haworth, daughter-in-law Stacey Hallman, and granddaughter Mackenzie Hallman.
The funeral will be on July 9th at 2:00 PM at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church in West Columbia on Leaphart Rd. The family will receive friends before the service starts at 1:00 PM. In honor of Ron’s wishes, there will be no burial following the service. The family thanks you for your presence as they honor his life. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mt. Hebron Church Music Program, or the American Heart Association.
Ron leaves a beautiful legacy of love, and his impact is deeply felt. His family would like to express their sincere gratitude to the wonderful caregivers at MUSC (formerly Providence), as well as to everyone who has supported them during this difficult time.
