Roger H. Freund, born March 11, 1944 in Wellsville, NY, died February 20, 2026 after a long battle with Cancer. He leaves behind the love of his life, his wife of 48 years, Pat; sisters; Ellie Lewis, Rock Hill, SC; Nancy Ferioli, Rock Hill, SC; Billie Pepper (Lon), Madison, MS and brother, George (Skip) Benjamin (Linda), Bolivar, NY also brother and sister in law; Phil & Donna Day, Hartland, WI; and numerous nieces and nephews — also his little dog, Sophie.

Roger joined the Navy right out of high school where he spent the next 11 years; 3 of which were aboard the USS Enterprise as a Nuclear Welder. In retirement, he used his welding expertise to make beautiful artwork that will be cherished by family and friends. Roger was also an avid golfer, enjoying 7 hole-in-ones and, for a time, a 2 handicap.

Roger will be interned at Ft. Jackson National Cemetery on Monday, March 23rd, 2026, at 1:00pm. If you would like to pay your respects to the family, they will be receiving friends at the home of 104 Westridge Rd. Elgin, SC, following the internment. 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Rogers name to St. Jude's, Shriners Children's Hospital, or Disabled Vets.
