Rockwood “Rock” Spain Wilmoth was born April 21, 1954, in Pensacola, Florida to the late Eugene and Willie Mae Wilmoth. He went home peacefully to be with the Lord on August 22, 2026.

He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Mrs. Sharon Dalton Wilmoth; in addition to his wife, he is survived by his two children. His Son David Rockwood Wilmoth, his Daughter Allyson Wilmoth Carr, and her Husband Ryan Allen Carr.

Raised in Danville, Virginia he was a graduate of George Washington High School Class of 1972 and attended Danville Community College. Him and his wife moved to Columbia, South Carolina in June 1984 for him to pursue his calling to the ministry and attend Columbia Bible College, now known as Columbia International University, achieving a Bachelor of Science Degree in Pastoral Ministries in June,1990. He served in the local church as the Minister of Education, Minister of Youth, and he ministered to the Senior Adults at Holland Avenue Baptist Church in Cayce, SC. He also Pastored at Pine Bluff Baptist Church and Macedonia Baptist Church in Columbia, SC. The Lord led Rock to his next venture at Hobby Lobby of West Columbia, SC to open and manage the Floral Department and then to Piggly Wiggly Irmo, SC as a Floral Manager, where he retired.

Though he retired from his vocational ministry, he did not retire from ministering by reaching out using his gifts that God blessed him with through creating his beautiful floral arrangements, various crafts, ornaments including Chrismons of all kinds, wedding planning, needle work, and the list could go on and on, there was absolutely nothing he could not create. The Lord blessed him with a gift of creativity in everything he touched. His unique creativity brought him as much joy as it brought to the others he shared it with. We will never truly know just how many lives he touched, whether through his ministry, his creations, or his love.

A celebration of his life will be held on Saturday September 19, 2026, at 11:00 AM at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home located at 200 State St. West Columbia, SC 29169 where we will commemorate the amazing life of a loving husband, father, minister, and friend.
