Raymond O’Neal Hallman Sr. of West Columbia Passed away on Friday June 11, 2021 at the Dorn VA of Columbia, SC at the age of 90. Raymond was born in Leesville, SC to the late O.D. Hallman and Ethel Kleckley Hallman. He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church of West Columbia and was the founder and owner of Columbia Flooring, Inc. in West Columbia. Raymond began sanding floors at the age of 10 and continued completing his education at Batesburg-Leesville High School. After completing his education he married the late Helen Jumper Hallman and began raising a family and building a business. This was briefly interrupted by the Korean War in which he proudly served. After his service Raymond returned home to continue building his business and his family. Raymond enjoyed life to its fullest and missed out on very little. He loved his family and friends and the door to his home was open to anyone who needed a place to sleep, something to eat or help in general (The door was literally never locked.) He loved fishing, working on his farm, traveling in his motor home and weekly fish fries. He especially enjoyed the many river trips he guided to Charleston. He never lost a boat however some did get misplaced for a few hours from time to time. Raymond was known far and wide for cooking the best fried chicken. Raymond loved raising horses, long horn cattle and chickens and was always willing to share this experience with anyone standing idly by. Along with being a member of the armed forces he was a member of the Springdale Masonic Lodge and a member in good standing with the Rock Star Trailer Park Group (Go Gamecocks). Raymond surrounded himself with family and good friends and always drew an audience. Everyone wanted to be an adopted member of the Hallman family and many were. Raymond was preceded in death by his wife Helen Jumper Hallman of 66 years, brothers Marquis (Dollie), Lanier (Brother), Prentice and sisters Janelle (Paul) Havird, Brenda (Billy) Moore; daughter Ann (Adrian) Gardner and son Raymond Jr. He is survived by his brother Randy (Saradean) Hallman, Sister Kaye (Gene) Ford ; Daughters Nancy (Richard) Blume of Lexington, Kathy (Dave) Elkin of Chapin, Cheryl (Troy) Phillips of Eastover.
