Penny Sherlock Cross

Penny S. Cross was born Penny Sherlock in 1952 in Columbia SC to parents Francis and Lois Sherlock. She graduated from Midlands Technical College as class valedictorian where she earned a degree in Computer Programming. She went on to work at Blue Cross Blue Shield for 20 years until retiring. Penny spent her life as the Matriarchof the family always putting others ahead of herself. Her whole life was about giving to the needs of others with no limit! Penny is an avid dog lover but lover of all animals in general. Penny’s dogs were her beloved children.

Penny is survived by her husband Jim Cross, her step-daughterKathy Carter, grandson Jake Carter, siblings Patricia Sherlock, Michael Sherlock, Peggy Gail Melendez, Josephine Delcastillo, Joseph Sherlock, Pamela Diane Westbury, Theresa Bleckley, Tannis Uribes, David Sherlock and 49 nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Cross passed away Saturday January 15, 2022 surrounded by her loving family. Donations can be made in her honor at any local animal shelter or animal charity, as dogs were her first love.

The family will receive friends and family from 2:00-4:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home. A memorial service will be hosted on January 19, 2022 at 4:00pm at Moseley Funeral & Cremation, 914 Meeting St, West Columbia SC 29169.
