Pelham Felder Moss

July 18, 1951 — April 13, 2017

Pelham Felder Moss, age 65 of Cayce, passed away Thursday, April 13, 2017. Pelham loved to laugh and never forgot a joke. He was as passionate in his careers as he was in his hobbies and interests. When Pelham turned 18 years old, he enlisted in the U.S. Army and advanced to the rank of Master Sargent.  After graduating with a Bachelor's Degree from the University of South Carolina, he held a position with Lexington and Richland Property Tax Divisions  and retired after 30 years of service. For most men, this would have been considered a successful career but for Pelham this was just the beginning. Pelham held his real estate Broker's license  and also his license as a "Master Appraiser" in four states. As Adjunct Professor of the University of South Carolina in "Finance and Appraisals", Pelham loved interacting and teaching his students. In addition to teaching, Pelham was Vice President of TD Bank acting as Review Specialist ll – Commercial Appraisal. Pelham received the SC Order of The Palmetto which is the highest civilian honor in the State of South Carolina and a past board member of the Human Affairs Commission.

Pelham thoroughly enjoyed his hobbies. His father delighted in piloting and passed his passion for flying onto his son.  After attaining his pilot's license and years of flying, Pelham was buiding a small kit Sonex aircraft! Pelham learned another hobby from his family. He learned how to cast and spin pewter from his uncle.  Pelham spun beautiful pewter bowls, jewerly and cast a variety of items. Pelham and Donna traveled extensively to explore the sea by sport diving. Pelham was a certified nitrox diver and enjoyed wreck diving and exploring. Pelham spent many years building custom cars. So many things interested Pelham and he thrilled in his research and discovery of his interests.

Pelham is survived by his beloved wife of 45 years, Donna B. Moss;  his older brother Charles Douglas Moss lV of Beaufort S.C., his three sisters Deborah Moss McGuire of Atlanta, Ga., Cathryn Moss Austelle and Melinda Mann Bussey both of Charleston, S.C  Also survived by two nephews, Charles Douglas Moss V and Johnnie Branham Moss of Beaufort, S.C., a niece, Chambers Austelle of Charleston, S.C. and many cousins and in-laws.

Pelham was predeceased by his mother and father; Cornelia Felder Moss Michel (Neechie) of Orangeburg/Charleston, S.C. and Charles Douglas Moss lll of Memphis, Tenn.

Pelham will be greatly missed.

Pelham requested not to have a funeral service.

Pelham's ashes will be given to the sea, his favorite place.
