Patricia Ann Hamilton, 80, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her loving family on August 21, 2021.She was born in Elizabethton, TN, on February 10, 1941, and raised there during her early childhood by her grandfather, Mankin Frye. Eventually Patricia and her father, James R. "Boots" Beatty, settled in Aiken where she spent her teens.Living in Columbia in her 20s, Pat took a job as a secretary for Midlands Aviation, and promptly fell in love with her boss, Jim Hamilton. To know her was to love her, and after a little "dead bird blue" eyeshadow and a dropped lobster in her lap to really impress him, Jim had no choice but to fall madly in love with Pat, and they were married September 1 9 , 1966. Together they ran the company and raised five children, Jimmie, Jr., John, Dan, Kelly and Holly, in Lexington. As beautiful as Pat was on the outside, her true beauty lay beneath. She was a kind and loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was an adventurer and she and Jim saw most of North America together in their many travels. She was a devourer of books, a lover of nature, a collector of fine Indian pots, nativity scenes, exquisite mineral specimens and anything that "caught her eye." An artist herself, she created stained glass artwork which is treasured by her family. She made each and every Christmas special. She knew how to laugh, and her smile lit up the room.
