Mrs. Cook passed away on Saturday, May 21, 2016, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 13, 1915, in Tarrytown, Ga., and was the daughter of the late Bennie and Eunice Warnock. Mrs. Cook was the widow of the late David C. Cook. She was a member of Cayce First Baptist Church and owner and operator for many years of Nell Cook's Home of Beauty of Cayce. She loved working in her yard and using her very "green thumbs" that God gave her to grow beautiful roses. Until recent years she was an active member of her church, singing in the choir and serving wherever needed. She was a member of the Cayce chapter of the Eastern Star,
where she had served as Worthy Grand Matron and held many chairs throughout the years. She was a loving grandmother and loved attending her grandchildren's activities and spending time with them.
Mrs. Cook is survived by her children, son Dickey Cook of Ridgeland, S.C., daughters Glenda (Kenny) Senterfeit and Marie (Brian) Jeffcoat-Oody of West Columbia, and daughter-in-law Lisa Nettles of Cayce; grandchildren Stacey (Greg) Baker, David Cook, Kenny (Kim) Senterfeit, Jr., Chris (Stephanie) Jeffcoat, Skye (Paul) Senterfeit-Heller and Rachel (Morris) Davis; nine great-grandchildren; three great-great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her sister Joy (Malcolm) Riner of Chapel Hill, N.C. She was predeceased by her husband of 69 years, David, infant son David Ronald Cook, son Alfred R. Nettles, great-granddaughter McKinsey Cook, son-in-law Bryan Jeffcoat, and siblings Felton, Estus, Julius, Bennie, Emerson and Eschol Warnock, Ethel W. McCaw and Dovie W. Rivers, and her parents.
We want to thank Kristen, Katherine, Misty, Stacie, Sandy, Jackie, Carol and Sonya of Compassionate Care Hospice for all of their care and help over these last many months. Words cannot express our appreciation. We also want to thank the staff of Agape Hospice House where Mama was moved the day before she passed away, for their kindness and care in her final hours.
So many people helped us care for our mother at home in the years since our dad passed away but we could not have done it without her caregivers, Eileen and Lisa, who have faithfully been there for us every step of the way, and loved her on the bad days as well the good days.
