Naomi R. Hilliard, age 74, of West Columbia, SC passed away on Friday, October 23, 2015 at Lexington Medical Center. Mrs. Hilliard was born in Barnwell County, SC, a daughter of the late Bessie Delk Rowell and James Monroe Rowell.
Visitation will be held at Westminster Presbyterian Church on Broad River Road on Monday , October 26, 2015 from 1:00-3:00 PM. Funeral services will be held immediately after visitation at 3:00PM and will be officiated by the Rev. Dr. Carol Byr d. The family will receive friends at other times at Mrs. Hilliard’s residence. Burial will take place at Fort Jackson National Cemetery on Tuesday, October 27, 2015 promptly at 11:00AM.
Naomi was a graduate of Blackville High School, Blackville, SC in 1959 and Donbo nné College of Beauty Culture in 1960 in Columbia, SC. She was a hairdresser for about 10 years prior to becoming a full-time homemaker. Naomi was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Columbia, SC. Naomi enjoyed seeing her friends from all over the USA at the 328 th C/R. Co. annual ASA Army reunion each year. The fa m ily would like to give a special “thank you” to Dr. Steven Madden and all of his staff of Lexington Oncology. In addition, all staff of the 8 th floor, Infusion Center and the 3 rd floor ICU at The Lexington Medical Center Hospital . All of you were our Angels and may God bless you for your kindness and love!
Mrs. Hilliard is survived by her loving husband of 46 years, Robert “Bob” L. Hilliard, Sr. of West Columbia SC; a daughter , Andrea Hilliard Christiansen , and a son-in-law , Chris Christiansen , of Chapin, SC; a son , Robert “Rob” L. Hilliard, Jr., of Char lotte, NC; and granddaughters , Haley Christiansen and Kaitlyn “Katie” Christiansen , of Chapin, SC; and sisters : Kitty Boyd of Orangeburg, SC, Gwendolyn Hutto of Hilda, SC and Ann Waldrop of West Columbia, SC and a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews along with other sisters-in law and brothers-in-law. Naomi also loved the extended families made while living in Virginia an d Indiana. She was preceded in death in addition to her parents by her sisters Evelyn Windham, Hattie Baxley and Martha Towne as well as her brothers James Monroe, Jr., Douglas Rowell and Robert Rowell.
