Mildred Corbett Sellers, wife of the late Charles H. Sellers, passed away December 15, 2015.
Born September 17, 1918, she was the daughter of Gertrude Knotts Corbett and Robert Elliott Corbett.
She grew up near Pool’s Mill and graduated from Pelion High School in 1935. Mildred was a wonderful homemaker who devoted her life to her family and friends.
She loved living in the country.
She was always cheerful and enjoyed being with people, but most of all she derived a great deal of satisfaction from helping others who were less fortunate without any fanfare on her part.
This would apply to all folks, whether black or white.
She was predeceased by her two brothers; Herbert (Carolyn) Corbett, R.E. (Jackie) Corbett & four sisters; Lucille (H.O.) Durham, Margaret (Ed) Chandler, Louise (T.J.) Dorris, & Maxine (Harold) Gleaton.
Their family went through hard times during the depression years as they lost
their family farm &
home place in Pond Branch,
SC, but all worked hard to recover from that period and led meaningful & successful lives.
They were truly The Greatest Generation.
She is survived by her sons Wade Hampton Sellers (Judy) and Robert Elliiot Sellers, grandsons Wade H. Sellers III, James Robert Sellers, Charles H. Sellers II (Jill),
granddaughter Caroline Sellers Bridges (Matt), grandchildren, Elliot and Dylan Bridges, Lyza and Evelyn Sellers.
Active pallbearers will be Mildred's nephews.
Visitation will be at 12:00 and the service at 1:00 on Friday, December 18 at Congaree Presbyterian Church, 1221 L Avenue in Cayce.
Memorials may be made to Congaree Presbyterian Church or the March of Dimes
