Mildred Mixon Bedell Wood of West Columbia went home to be with her Lord and Savior on April 12, 2017.
Born on May 17, 1923, in Wagener, South Carolina, she was the daughter of the late William T. and Frances M. Mixon . She was a devoted wife to the late James Lawrence Wood.
Mildred will be remembered by many as a skilled seamstress and quilter, an avid Gardner with a "green thumb" and a wonderful seafood chef.
She loved her Lord and spent many precious hours reading her Bible.
Mildred was active with First Baptist Church West Columbia an d Edisto Beach Baptist Church during the varying stages of her life. In her earlier years, she was a Sunday School teacher and active with the Woman's Missionary Union. She was a loving and dedicated wife, mother and grandmother and was truly a Godly model for many.
In addition to her parents she was also predeceased by six sisters , five brothers and a great - grand daughter , Lexie Vella.
She is survived by her children, Shelly Williams, Robert Bedell (Julia), Frankie Haygood and Robin Hendrick ( Marny ) , eight grandchildren, Pat, Michael, Dawn, Brenna, Charles, Trevor, Katie, Jessica and nineteen
g reat - grandchildren.
She is also survived by her beloved sister Anna Epps and a special sister- niece Mickie Bradley.
In lieu of flowers the family request memorials b e made to the Annie Armstrong Offering in care of First Baptist Church West Columbia, 400 State Street, West Columbia 29169 .
A celebration of her life will be held at First Baptist Church West Columbia on Saturday April 15, 2017 at 11:00 am.
Visitation will be held at the church one hour prior to the service.
A private burial will be held at a later date.
