Merle Ruth (Sharpe) Butler

A service to celebrate the life of Merle Ruth Sharpe Butler 86, of Cayce will be held at 2:00 pm Tuesday, May 29, 2018 at Trinity Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 PM prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to St. Jude’s children’s research Hospital. Mrs. Butler passed away Friday May 25, 2018. She was born in Swansea and was the daughter of the late Haston and Alice Wise Sharpe. Mrs. Butler was a member of Trinity Baptist Church and the Love Sunday school class. Mrs. Butler is survived by her stepdaughter, Rosemary Robinson; grandchildren, Nancy (Mike) Moore and Derek (Elizabeth) Robinson; special boys she help to raise, Dan and Connor Freeman; siblings, James (Gloria) Sharpe, Katherine Gunter and Evelyn (Harold) Chavis. Mrs. Butler was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Giles Butler, brother and sister in law, Rev. O’Neil and Joyce Sharpe and sister, Mary Alice Sharpe.
