Maxie Samuel Waites, Jr.

Maxie Samuel Waites, Jr., 67, of Columbia passed away Wednesday, September 15, 2021. He was the son of the late Maxie S. Sr. and Belva O. Waites. He was born on May 25, 1954 in Anderson, South Carolina.

Maxie first worked for the City of Columbia as supervisor for street division and then for parks and recreation also as supervisor. After that he worked as a bouncer in several clubs in Columbia. Following that, he worked a variety of jobs.

Maxie was a Baptist, a Christian and he loved his church, family, and all people who touched his life, including his dog, Ray-Ray, but most of all he loved Jesus - our Lord and Savior.

Maxie also played baseball as pitcher for his little league team and then on to the Pacific all star minor league team.

Maxie was a highschool graduate of Dreher highschool and also attended a military college in Georgia. He was very proud to be an Eagle Scout and a former Mason, Dentsville Lodge.

Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 21 years, Susan M. Hunt Waites; his only sister, Vicki Lee Waites; as well as numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

"He gave all" Maxie will be missed by many.
