It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Mary "Grandmama" Clayborn. Born on June 13, 1940, Mary left us on December 27, 2024, leaving a void in our lives too large to be filled.
Mary was the beloved matriarch of our family, adored for her vibrant and caring personality. She was immensely proud of her family, and the love she had for each of them was reciprocated in full measure. Holidays were never complete without the warmth and cheer she brought to our gatherings, her home serving as the anchor for years of family celebrations.
She is lovingly remembered by her sons Scott Miner and Chip Kennedy, her daughter Leigh Miner, her granddaughters Carolyn Miner, Page Turner, Cyndi Hughes, Rainey Hughes, and Megan Miner, and her grandson, James Miner II. Mary also leaves behind her great-grandchildren, Aybree White, Chance White, Nora White, Stella Turner, and Jackson Aching. She is predeceased by Michael, her loving husband of many years, her son James Miner, her grandson Scotty Miner, and her cherished sister, Martha Burkhalter.
Mary led an enriching life, marked by service to others. She generously spent her time as a volunteer at the Lexington Medical Center, contributing invaluably to the welfare of her community. A die-hard fan of the Alabama Crimson Tide, she derived immense joy from watching football. But truly, her greatest pleasure came from the simplicity of cooking sumptuous meals for her loved ones.
A memorial service celebrating Mary's life will be held at Moseley Funeral and Cremation Service on January 16, 2025, at 12:00 PM. The burial will follow at Fort Jackson National Cemetery at 2:00 PM.
Mary's light may have dimmed in our world, but the love and joy she brought to us will continue to burn bright in our hearts. Rest in peace, grandmama, until we meet again.
