Lt Phillips

February 7, 1930 — July 20, 2017

A funeral service to celebrate the life of LT Phillips, of Cayce will be held 3:30 pm Sunday July 23, 2017 at Edwards Memorial Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church with Pastor Greg Slater and Pastor John Rogers officiating. The family will receive friends at the church from 2:00 to 3:30 pm prior to the service. Burial will follow in Southland Memorial Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to MedNeed of South Carolina, PO Box 6882, West Columbia SC 29171 or Amedisys Hospice of SC, 1900 Sunset Blvd. Ste103, West Columbia SC 29169.

LT was the son of Fred and Elizabeth Phillips born in Royston Georgia where he lived until nine years old and they moved to Kannapolis North Carolina. in 1945 he met Joann Starnes and they were married on May 10, 1947 and recently celebrated their 70th anniversary. In 1952 he joined Colonial Stores Inc. in Kannapolis, NC working on the chicken and fish counter moving up  regularly to journey man meat cutter, market manager, field merchandiser, meat buyer and finally director of meat sales for 81 stores in North Carolina, South Carolina and Georgia for 32 years. After retiring in March 1984 he went to work for Thomas and Howard wholesale company finally retiring March 30, 1995. In his retirement he spent much of his time in volunteer work. He was a wonderful husband, father and grandfather and great grandfather of children who were the pride of his life. He managed markets in Kannapolis, Concord,  Lexington, North Carolina and Orangeburg and Cayce, South Carolina. LT was a member of Edwards Memorial Associate Reformed Presbyterian Church of Cayce, South Carolina and serve as an Elder, Sunday School Superintendent for many years and president of the men's club, always faithful to do what was needed.
Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife, Joann Starnes Phillips; son, Larry T. Phillips (Sarah), son, Tony M. Phillips (Diane), daughter, Debra P. Tagliaferri (John), daughter, Cheryl P. Smith (Sandy), son, Jeffrey S. Phillips (Alyson); grandchildren, Toni, Shelley, Whitney, LarryT. II, Dayne, Amanda, Matthew, Rebecca, Delaine, Meredith, Dustin and Brandon; twenty one grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild
