Linda Lucia Wessinger

August 9, 1956 — October 25, 2021

Linda Lucia Wessinger, beloved daughter, niece, cousin, and friend, passed away Monday, October 25, 2021, after battling a lengthy illness. Born on August 9, 1956 in Orangeburg, SC, she was the daughter of Roberta Lloyd Wessinger and the late Herb Wessinger. Linda attended Brookland Cayce High School and Francis Marion University, where she earned her triple major Bachelors degree in Political Science, History, and Sociology. She had a deep passion for learning about history and different cultures. She aspired to work for the Bureau of Indian Affairs, where she could use her knowledge and skills to serve the Native American community. Her career path took a turn when many of those jobs were cut and opportunities were limited. Linda used her knowledge and skills in other ways throughout her life. She educated others and advocated for vulnerable populations. Linda loved experiencing new places and meeting new people. She had such a passion for learning about the world and dreamed of traveling the world one day. Linda enjoyed her job at ETV where she worked in the production department. She loved being in the spotlight, and one of her proudest moments was when she was featured in a commentary where she interviewed race car drivers in North Carolina. Linda especially enjoyed her job in food service where she formed close relationships with her coworkers and customers, who became regulars and would always come in just to see her. She enjoyed many things in life including nature, the mountains, the beach, Lake Murray, camping, swimming, boating, art, festivals, museums, animals, and Clemson football. She was a member of Mount Tabor Lutheran Church. Linda is survived by her mother, Roberta Lloyd Wessinger; aunt, Llewllyn Lloyd Adams; uncle, Tommy B. Wessinger (Barbara); as well as numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and her two cats, Treli and Romeo. In addition to her father, Linda was preceded in death by her grandfather, Ernest Wessinger; grandmother, Norman Lloyd Sample; uncle, Ladd Adams; aunt, Theresa W. Beckham (Thomas R.); and her cousin, Robert "Rob" Adams. Linda's mother would like to thank all of the doctors, nurses, staff, and hospice at the Baptist Hospital. A special thank you also to her niece, Lynn Beckham Robertson and close friend Maria Ouzounidis, and daughter Isabella, for all of their help during this difficult time. A graveside service will be held on Sunday, November 7, 2021 at 2:30pm at Mount Tabor Lutheran Church Cemetery in West Columbia.
