Laurie Shealy Gonda

A service to celebrate the life of Laurie Shealy Gonda, 55, of West Columbia will be held 11:00 am Wednesday March 15, 2023in the chapel of Moseley Funeral & Cremation Service. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.

Laurie passed away Saturday March 11, 2023, after a long, hard fought battle with MS. She was born in Columbia and was the daughter of Carroll Shealy and Nell Clegg Shealy. Laurie was a graduate of Brookland-Cayce High School and attended Midlands Technical College and worked for Palmetto Steel Detailers. She was a longtime member of Westside Baptist Church and resident of Opus, loved Rock and Roll and animals, especially strays. She never met a stranger and made friends easily wherever she went.

Laurie is survived by her parents, Carroll (Jo) Shealy and Nell Clegg Shealy; brother, Michael (Liz) Shealy; niece, Samantha Senn, nephew, Mack Shealy and niece, Kendall Shealy; stepbrother, Lee (Diana)Gunter and stepsister, Janice (Roy) Johnson;  former spouse, Rick Gonda; four legged companion, Jazz; she was preceded in death by her friend and caregiver, Bryan Pyle.  In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Pets, Inc. in West Columbia, SC.
