Laura Nell Parker was born on July 20, 1934 in Jena, Green County, Alabama, passed June 16, 2021 in West Columbia, SC. She was the daughter of the late Andrew and Lilly Leavelle.
Nell loved to travel and had a very colorful life. She finally settled down in Cayce, SC in the late 1980’s. She had many jobs over her lifetime, from working in a candy factory in Chicago, working in sewing factories in Turbville, SC and even a lifeguard at the age of 60 to many others. Nell was known by many and never met a stranger. She was known as Nell, Moma, Grandma, Meme, or Momma Nell, and was loved by all.
Nell was preceded in death by her late husband, Junior Parker, two sisters, Sadie Abel (Bill), Wynonna Snyder (Bobby) and her brother, Andy Leavelle (Pat).
She is survived by her daughters, Denice Mercer (Robert) of Whitesberg, Tennessee, and Joyce Campbell of Cayce, SC; Four granddaughters, Rebecca Hill, of Columbia, Brandi Campbell (Rodriguez) of Cayce, Madison Campbell (Symon) of Cayce and Amy Wallace (Adam) of Northport, ALA; grandson, Adam Black (Heather) of Cottondale, ALA and 14 great grandchildren.
The family would like to thank Joyce Jeffcoat for all her support, and to express their heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the CNAs and nurses at NHC Jassmane unit in West Columbia for the care, and love they showed her.
A celebration of life will be announced by the family in the upcoming weeks.
