Kathy Hornsby

d. June 6, 2024

Kathy McCarty Hornsby, daughter of the late Travis J. and Kathleen M. McCarty, joined God in her eternal home on June 6, 2024. Kathy was born in Clinton, SC and spent her childhood in several cities, including Greenwood, North Augusta and West Columbia. Kathy was a graduate of USC and Midlands Technical College. She worked as a NICU nurse for over 30 years, saw many children into the world, and witnessed the hands and feet of Jesus at work in the NICU. Kathy was an active member of both local and national chapters of the Mothers of Twins clubs. As a dedicated member of Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church, she served as a member of the chancel choir, was a volunteer for Go Forth Ministries, delivered communion to homebound members, and followed in her mother’s footsteps by teaching Sunday School.

Kathy loved and supported others with her whole heart and had a smile that could light up a room. To be known by Kathy was to be loved by her. Even at the end of her life, she was focused on thinking of others. She is survived by her daughters Hope Cole (Charlie, Morgan, and Eli) and Faith Smyser (Paul, Alex, Paige, John).

A memorial service will be held on June 15, 2024 at 11:00am at Mt. Hebron United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to Mt. Hebron UMC for either Go Forth Ministries or the General Fund.
