Jesse D. Wicker

Jesse David Wicker, 79, passed away August 27, 2017. He was born September 14, 1937 in Pinehurst, NC the son of the late John Dalton Wicker and Mary Carpenter Wicker. He is survived by his wife, Edna Rice Wicker, of 33 years. In his younger days, he was an All-American swimmer who excelled in the butterfly stroke. After graduating from Brookland-Cayce High School, he enlisted in the U.S.
Army
, serving 1956-59 in the Airborne Infantry. He later worked as a food sales representative in the grocery industry for over 40 years. In addition to his wife he is survived by: four sons, David Harvey of Florida, Keith Dalton of Mississippi, Jesse Neil(Diana) of Hopkins and Christopher Tyler(Angela) of Gilbert; two step-daughters, Renee Rice Hope(Stuart) of Chapin and Mary Ellen Rice of Washington; and a step-son Edward Kenyon Rice, III of Florida; 7 grandchildren, Melissa Hope, Stuart Hayden Hope, Kelsey Wicker, Elizabeth Wicker, Elias Wicker, Robbie Rice and Katelyn Rice; and Mima Wicker, mother of his 4 sons.
He was also predeceased by his brother John S. Wicker. A gathering of family and friends will be held
Saturday, September 2, 2017 at 1 PM
at Agape Village Clubhouse, Agape Village Court, West Columbia, SC for a time to remember and celebrate the life of Jesse. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to American Liver Foundation, National Kidney Foundation, or American Red Cross. The family would like to extend their love and gratitude to Hospice Care of Tri-county, Devoted Care and Transition Services, and Luella Dunlap for their care and support over the last few months.
