Jeffrey David Hemming

It is with a heavy heart that Jeffrey D. Hemming, 56, passed away surrounded by love on Monday, October 20, 2025 after a strong fight against pancreatic cancer. He was born on December 16, 1968 in Mt. Clemens, Michigan. Jeff was known for his compassionate heart, kind soul, and unwavering faith. His wise words and endless empathy made those around him feel seen, valued, and loved.
Jeff graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1987, and soon after received his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of South Carolina (GO COCKS!). He found a career in sales and logistics, retiring as a Senior Director at DHL Express in 2016. Carolina Drone Academy was launched in 2016 by Jeff. He found a passion educating others about the FAA regulations and laws regarding Unmanned Aircraft Systems.
Jeff is predeceased by his mother, Karen Vidor. He is survived by his two daughters, Aubrey Hemming and Logan Hemming, wife, Vicki Franklin, her children, Cooper and Sullivan, and granddaughters, Kylie, Noah, and Bella. As well as his father, John C. Hemming Sr, his three siblings (Tammy, Terry, and Jack) and countless others he impacted.

A memorial mass will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, November 8, 2025 at 914 Meeting St, West Columbia, SC, 29169. The family is asking everyone to wear any shade of green in memory of Jeff.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for donations to be made to St. Gerard’s Catholic Church in Aiken, SC.
