James Cecil Sharpe

A service to celebrate the life of James Cecil Sharpe, 86,  of West Columbia will be held at 2 PM Monday, April 19, 2021 at the First Baptist Church of Gaston. The family will receive friends at the church beginning at 12:30 PM until the time of the service.  in lieu of flowers,  please make memorial contributions is to First Baptist Church of Gaston. Mr. Sharpe passed away Friday, April 16, 2021. He was born in Swansea, South Carolina and was the son of the late Haston Dewy Sharpe and Alice Dorcus Wise Sharpe.  Mr. Sharpe served in the US Army, was a farmer, life insurance agent with liberty life and a well driller. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Gaston, where he served as music director, was a deacon, sunday school director and teacher and always had a love of the Lord and was a faithful friend to many. Mr. Sharpe is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Gloria Cockrell Sharpe, children, James Timothy Sharpe and Jenifer Marie Sharpe; grandson, James Christopher Sharpe; siblings, Evelyn (Harold) Chavis and Katherine Gunter; sisters in law, Annis Corder and Brenda Risinger. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, O’Neil Sharpe, Merle Butler and Mary Sharpe.
