Mr. James L Ridgeway, Sr. , 7 7 , of Columbia passes after a long illness

A n informal celebration of the life of James Lynell Ridgeway will be held on Friday, November 15 , 2019 from 7 until 9:00 p.m. It will be at Moseley’s Funeral & Cremation Services on Meeting Street in West Columbia . During this time, there will be a simultaneous viewing where friends and acquaintances may speak and visit with his family and share their fond memories of him with them .

Mr. Ridgeway was born on December 2 3 th , 19 4 1 in Columbia, SC . He passed away on November 11, 2019 after a long illness . He was a professional painter for most of his life.

He was pr e ced ed in death by parents “Big Man” and Voila Ridgeway and his first love and wife Mrs. Shelby Jean Miles Ridgeway . After being widowed, he remarried to Gladys Williams Ridgeway who has also since passed.

Mr. Ridgeway had seven brothers and sisters. They included two sisters , Pasty and Ga il , and three brothers Dutch, Harold, and Steve who are still with us . Mr. Ridgeway was preceded in death by a sister, Bett y Rut h , and two brothers Ervin and Jerry .

Mr. Ridgeway had four children that include his son James L. Ridgeway, Jr. who resides in the West Columbia area . His daughters Peggy, T eresa, and Angela all departed this earth before their father. He has three stepdaughters, Della, Virginia, and Sharon .

His g randchildren include Christopher Shane Rawls, Sr., John Mark Dickerson, Macy Lynn “Macy Mae” Lewis, Amber Frazier, Ashley Frazier, and McKenzie . He also had many great-grandchildren he adored.

Mr. Ridgeway’s final arrangements are be ing handled by Mr. Greg Moseley of Moseley ’s Funeral & Cremation Service at the ir West Columbia C hapel. It is located at 914 Meeting Street, West Columbia, SC. After a visitation, Mr. Ridgeway will be cremated , and his c remains will be divided among his grandchildren.
