Listen to Obituary

James Sanford “Jimmy” Northcutt, 78, a longtime resident of the West Columbia and Cayce area, passed away on September 12, 2026, just three days shy of his 79th birthday.

Jimmy was a strong, hardworking man whose greatest pride was his family. He shared 59 years of marriage with his beloved wife, Clifette, and spent his life making sure the people he loved were cared for. For 43 years, he made his living driving a truck and took great pride in providing for his family.

Jimmy also knew how to enjoy life. He loved riding his motorcycle, watching Westerns, listening to old Southern country music, and, when the music was right, he loved to “cut a rug.” Above all else, family was the center of Jimmy’s world.

He is survived by his loving wife, Clifette Northcutt; his children, James C. “Jamy” Northcutt and DeeDee Richardson (Jay); grandchildren, Brandon Adams (Lauren), McKinley Adams, and Ian Kerbow; and great-grandson, Henry Adams. He is also survived by his siblings, Wallace Northcutt (Brenda), Eddie Northcutt, and Lillie Smith (James).

Jimmy was the son of the late Liza Jane Klapman and Wallace Northcutt and was preceded in death by his parents and siblings, Betty and Wayne.

Jimmy leaves behind a family who knew without question how deeply they were loved. His strength, devotion, and the example he set will live on through them. There will always be an old country song, the rumble of a motorcycle, or a familiar Western that brings Jimmy to mind.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at McAlister-Smith Funeral Home in West Columbia. Burial will follow at 12:00 p.m. at Fish Hatchery Road Church of God in Gaston.

Jimmy will be deeply missed and forever loved.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Moseley Funeral & Cremation Service 914 Meeting St. West Columbia, 29169 (803) 794-1743.
