JAMES K. “JIM” WINDHAM (1942-2022)
James K. Windham, 80, of Pelion, husband of Trini M. Windham went to be with his Lord and Savior on Thursday, October 20, 2022.
Mr. Windham, affectionately known by so many as “Mr. Jim,”was a living testimony of God’s mercy and grace to all who met him. He loved everyone and was a faithful servant of God, always putting others before himself. He was an active member of Florence Baptist Church in Pelion, SC and loved his church family. He served in many capacities at his church to include Sunday School Director, Sunday School teacher, choir member, and a member of the Men’s Ministry.
Mr. Jim also loved his Country and all branches of the military. He served in the United States Navy as a Seabee for nine (9) years which included tours during the Vietnam War. He worked for many years in the finance industry and retired from Richland Memorial Hospital (now known as Prisma Health Richland Hospital) after 28 years of service.
Mr. Jim is survived by his wife of 59 years, his children Valerie Jackson (Andy), Heather Jackson (Sam) and Kevin Windham (Jane); Grandchildren Lyndsey Chavous (H.B.), Aubrey Hite (Ashley), Sam Jackson, III (Mollie Allen), Tim Jackson (Katelyn), Katelyn Webster (Reid) and Emily Windham and six (6) great grandchildren; his brother Robert Windham and a large extended family who all loved him and will miss him dearly.
Mr. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Harold and Dorothy Windham, sister Betty Christensen and granddaughter Jessica Hite.
The services for Mr. Jim will be held at Florence Baptist Church, 1709 Windy Wood Road, Pelion, SC on Sunday, October 23, 2022, with visitation from 3:00pm to 4:30pm in the church family life center and the Funeral service following at 5:00pm in the church’s sanctuary. A private burial will be held on Monday, October 24, 2022, at the Fort Jackson National Cemetery, Columbia, SC.
The family is asking that in lieu of flowers that memorials be made to Florence Baptist Church, Post Office Box 716, Pelion, SC 29123. The family would also like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff at Lexington Medical Center on the 300 South floor. These healthcare professionals truly showed the compassion that is needed in times such as this and the family will never forget their kindness during this time.
The family can be visited prior to the services on Friday evening, October 21, 2022, at the home of Andy and Valerie Jackson, 1140 Fairview Road, Pelion, SC 29123 between 6:00pm and 9:00pm.
